LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's and women's track and field teams will continue the outdoor season at the Pacesetter Invitational hosted by Indiana State University on Friday and Saturday at Marks Field in Terre Haute, Ind. The Cardinal men will also have a pair of distance runners, junior Tim Kaiser and sophomore Wesley Korir, competing in the Distance Carnival at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays hosted by Mt. San Antonio College on Friday in Walnut, Calif.
The Pacesetter Invitational is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. EDT on Friday and continue on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. EDT. At the Mt. SAC Relays, Korir will compete in the 5,000-meter run at 5:25 p.m. EDT while Kaiser's 10,000-meter race will begin at 1 a.m. EDT and will be the final race of the Distance Carnival.
"We expect the Pacesetter Invitational to be a great competition and one that will allow our athletes to compete against some of the top teams in the region," said U of L head coach Ron Mann. "The Mt. SAC Relays is one of the best competitions in the nation for distance runners and we want to give our athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest level. It should really help both Tim and Wesley in preparing for next month's Conference USA Championships while also serving as an opportunity to earn an NCAA Regional qualifying mark."
Following this weekend's meets in Indiana and California, U of L will host the annual Cardinal Invitational on Saturday, April 23 at the Cardinal Park Track Stadium. The meet program is tentatively set to begin at Noon EDT with the field events and continue through the men's 4x400-meter relay at 4:35 p.m. EDT.
