LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - University of Louisville head coach Rex Ecarma has announced that Jeff Brown has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his player career at the University of Louisville in the fall of 2012.
"Jeff Brown is not only a good player but he has a good personality," said Ecarma. "He is someone that can develop to be a good leader of the team some day. He is an exceptional student and comes from a good family. He has limited practice partners in his hometown but still developed to be the top-ranked player in Louisiana and one of the top players in the Southern United States.
Brown is a native of Mandeville, La., and plays for Brown Christian Academy. He is the No. 1 player in the state and is ranked No. 59 in the nation with wins over six players ranked in the top 50. Brown won the Kentucky Indoor State Championship and the Winter Southern Championship Consolation Draw in Knoxville, Tenn. He reached the quarterfinals of the Wichita Falls ITF and the Southern Designated in Norcross, Ga. Brown placed fourth in the Sourthern Designated in Columbus, Ga., and reached the consolation semifinals of the Southern Designated in Baton Rouge, La.
"Once he gets to U of L, with as many talented teammates that he will be surrounded by, I think he will improve considerably," said Ecarma. "He reminds me of former U of L tennis star, Cody Conley, who improved dramatically in our system. I am happy he turned down offers from the SEC and Big 12 to join us and I can't wait to coach him."
