Men's Tennis Signs Augie Ge

Nov. 18, 2013

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma has announce that Augie Ge has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Cardinals starting in the fall of 2014.

"Augie is a nice addition to our team," said Ecarma. "He is a left-handed player as well as an offensively-minded player. He was the best player on his Sectional team in the USA National Team Tournament. He comes from a very impressive family and has a perfect grade point average. He has high goals in tennis, academics and life. He will represent Louisville well. With the high academic and sportsmanship standard of the ACC, Augie is a perfect fit."

Ge (Phoenix, Ariz.) brings impressive junior credentials to the Cardinal roster. The 2013 Southwest Closed Sectional champion has been ranked as high as No. 31 in this year's signing class. He also reached the finals of the USA Regional Tournament and qualified for all four Super National Junior Championships - Winter, Spring, Clay Court and Hardcourt. Ge recently posted wins over four players ranked in the top 75.

"I could not be more excited to be joining such a hard-working and humble group at such a special university," said Ge. "Louisville offers the perfect blend of academics and athletics for me. I loved the energy and the atmosphere right when I stepped on campus. Not only the university but the entire city of Louisville, it seemed, showed amazing support for UofL. I am thrilled to face the challenges that the next four years will bring, and to do so with a very supportive team and coaching staff. Go Cardinals!"
