Sophomores Sebastian Stiefelmeyer and Albert Wagner earned spots in the 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason singles rankings. Stiefelmeyer is ranked 70 while Wagner stands at No. 120.

"I am happy for Sebastian and Albert who are ranked #70 and #120 out of nearly 3000 Division 1 college tennis players respectively," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "Out the four players nationally ranked in the Big East Conference, it is nice to have two of them. Last season, they helped us attain our third straight Big East Championship and ended the year ranked in the top 20 of the Ohio Valley Region."

Stiefelmeyer (Vienna, Austria) was picked as the 2012 Freshman of the Year after making an immediate impact in the Cardinals' lineup this season. The newcomer from Vienna, Austria, recorded an 18-6 singles mark and a 14-13 doubles clip to lead Louisville to its third-straight BIG EAST Championship title. Stiefelmeyer was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after a 2-0 singles performance, including a key win to record the first point for the Cardinals in the championship year.

Wagner (Kuemmersbruck, Germany) registered a team-best 29-10 mark in singles and went 18-6 in dual matches playing mostly at Nos. 3 and 4. The freshman posted a win at No. 3 singles when Louisville's defeated host USF 4-2 in the BIG EAST championship match.

"Sebastian and Albert have worked so hard in the off season and believe they can climb up the rankings this fall," said Ecarma. "They are each humble, hard-working and very hungry. I call this the 3 H's of success and they embody that."
