LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma has announced that Felipe Nino has joined the Cardinals and is eligible to begin competition in the 2010-11 season.

"Felipe has potential to be a good college player," said Ecarma. "He is technically sound and smooth. He has played in quite a few of the top junior tournaments in the world and scored some really nice wins. He is a lefty and can also play good doubles, but most of all, he listens well and is a person of good character. He will win and represent U of L in a classy way."

Nino, a native of Armenia, Colombia, has had impressive results in his junior career. In singles, he went undefeated through the Banana Bowl Qualifying Draw and advanced to the finals of the Condor de Plata Tournament and the quarterfinals of the Copa Club Farallones. He also reached the round of 16 of the Inka Bowl. In doubles, he won the Inka Bowl, reached the semifinals of the Chile Junior Open and the quarterfinals of the Uruguay Bowl.
