DEL RAY BEACH, Fla. - The University of Louisville's Jeff Brown has advanced to the round of 32 and teamed with fellow freshman Alex Gornet to reach the doubles round of 32 in the USTA National Clay Court Chanpionship.

In first round singles action, Brown defeated Jeff MacKenzie 6-1, 6-2. He went on to beat Sam Bloom 6-3, 6 -3 and upset the No. 11 seed Trey Strobel 1-6 7-5, 6-1 to reach the round of 32 .

After receiving a first-round bye in doubles, Brown and Gornet teamed for a 4-6, 6-2 (10-6) win over Noah Fenton and Jordan Krasner.

"Jeff is hot right now and beat a good Wake Forest signee in Sam Bloom," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "I am excited to see how Jeff and Alex do in the third round of doubles. It's nice to see future Cardinal teammates playing together."
