The University of Louisville's Andrew Carter opened his post-collegiate career by winning the BMW Crown NC State Closed Championship.

"I am happy that Andrew is starting his post-college career with a nice tournament win in his home state," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "He is continuing the momentum he had from being the best at the No. 1 singles spot at the Big East championships. He will start playing Future and Challenger qualifying events next month. I wish him great success."

Carter, who recently completed his senior year at U of L was the third-seed player in the tournament and picked five wins en route to the title. He defeated Cameron Smith and Juan Manrique in straight sets to reach the quarterfinals where he bested the No. 5 seed Paul Goode. He went on the take down the No. 2 seed Tony Mule 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 in the semifinals before posting a 6-3, 6-1 victory over top-seeded William Noblitt in the finals.
