LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The 16th ranked Cardinals hit the road to take on the 36th ranked Fighting Irish of Notre Dame Saturday April 10th at 1 p.m. in South Bend, Ind.

"Since joining the BIG EAST, every time we have played Notre Dame there has been something important on the line and this year is no different" said Louisville head coach Rex Ecarma. "If we are successful in South Bend, it should ensure the top seed in the BIG EAST tournament. If they beat us, it will help their national ranking. A sportswriter once called the Louisville vs. Notre Dame rivalry one of the top five rivalries in the country for our sport. I do not disagree with him. Our team feels better after a successful weekend against South Florida and VCU and we really want to build some momentum and finish out the regular season."

Louisville (16-5) is led by junior Austen Childs who has recorded a 15-4 season record while playing all of his matches at the No. 1 singles spot. He is currently ranked at No. 30 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Poll. Fellow junior Simon Childs is also ranked in the ITA poll at No. 76 with a 12-8 season record. Two of UofL's doubles tandems are ranked with Childs and Childs at No. 24 and Simon Childs and junior Alejandro Calligari at No. 25.

Notre Dame, who is 11-10 on the season, is led in the polls by Daniel Stahl who is ranked at No. 91.

The Cards are 4-5 all-time against the Irish and are looking to even the score with a victory on Saturday. The two teams faced off twice last season with Louisville victorious in both matches. The Cards won 4-3 in the regular season and 4-3 in the BIG EAST tournament.

Following the match at Notre Dame, the Cardinals will be back in action Wednesday April 14 against Indiana University in Bloomington.
