PROVIDENCE, R.I. - - Louisville junior Austen Childs knocked off two nationally ranked singles competitors last week and was named men's BIG EAST Tennis Player of the Week for the fourth time this season.

Childs, the 30th-ranked singles player in the country, helped No. 16 Louisville to a 2-0 week, defeating USF 4-3 on April 2 and then-No. 68 Virginia Commonwealth 5-1 on April 4. Playing at No. 1 singles, Childs defeated 100th-ranked Wael Kilani of USF 6-4, 6-1 and teamed with junior Viktor Maksimcuk to win at No. 2 doubles 8-7. Against VCU, the junior beat No. 25 Thibaut Charron 7-6, 6-1 and completed the week's sweep with Maksimcuk 8-0.

U of L (16-5) will travel to South Bend, Ind., to take on BIG EAST foe Notre Dame.
