The University of Louisville men's tennis team moved up six spots to No. 26 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings released on March 18.
"Our team really benefited from a grueling eight-day stretch with five matches and two of them on the road," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "What pleased me the most is that we finished stronger than we started. They are progressing on schedule and the rankings showed it as we moved one spot away from the top 25. Defeating Arizona, Indiana, and Michigan State consecutively has raised this team's confidence."
Louisville is currently on a five-match winning streak dating back to March 7. The Cards are coming off of a 7-0 win over Michigan State on March 15.
The Cardinals (13-4) spent the first five weeks of the season ranked No. 47-49 before jumping to No. 38 in the first computerized rankings released on Feb. 25. After defeating No. 23 Northwestern and falling short in a 5-2 loss at No. 3 Oklahoma, Louisville moved to No. 29 on March 4. Last week, they slid to No. 32, but defeated Indiana and Michigan State to move to their highest ranking of the season.
UofL will travel Lubbock, Texas to face No. 37 Texas Tech on March 20. Following that, the Cards will return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center for a matchup with Middle Tennessee State Sunday at 1 p.m.
