Wagner Named American Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Feb. 18, 2014

The University of Louisville's Albert Wagner was named American Athletic Conference Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Wagner led the Cardinals to a win over No. 59 Nebraska. The junior keyed a 4-2 victory with wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. His doubles victory, 6-5 (7-4) clinched the doubles point for Louisville, and a three-set victory (6-3, 4-6, 6-2) over Marc Hermann in singles sealed the victory for the Cardinals.

"I am happy for Albert," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "He played very gutsy tennis and carried the team on his back in a tough match on the road last week."

UofL (6-2) will play host to Virginia Tech Friday at 4 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
