LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After three weekends on the road, the University of Louisville men's tennis team returns home on Friday for a double header against Wright State at 1 p.m and Eastern Kentucky at 6 p.m.
"Wright State is going to be a big challenge for you us," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "They barely lost 4-3 at Michigan State who has had a really good season so far. EKU is normally the Ohio Valley Conference champion and they beat Wright State earlier this year so we have a lot of work ahead of us. Our guys have already played a lot of matches this season and we are playing two tough teams back-to-back. This will be a test of mental toughness and an opportunity to grow."
The Cardinals (5-5) enter the weekend holding at No. 35 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team. Louisville is coming off of a 4-1 win over No. 38 Boise State and a 4-3 loss at No. 44 Minnesota.
Sophomore Sebastian Stiefelmeyer stands at No. 115 in the latest ITA singles rankings with a 13-10 record in singles. Sophomore Chris Simich carries a team-best 17-7 record in singles and is 6-3 in dual matches, playing mostly at No. 3.
