The University of Louisville men's tennis team moved up three spots to No. 16 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings released on Feb. 4.

"This is the third time we have moved up in the rankings this season," said head coach Rex Ecarma. "To be No. 16 out of approximately 265 Division I teams is an achievement, but we feel that our best tennis ahead of us."

The Cardinals (5-0) picked up two wins in the ITA Kickoff Weekend and earned a spot in the ITA National Men's Team Indoor tournament's round of 16 teams for the first time in program history.

U of L will take their improved ranking and undefeated record to Minneapolis, Minn., where the Cards will face No. 37 Minnesota Friday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. and St. Mary's Saturday at 3 p.m.

"We won a very close 4-3 match against Minnesota last year at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center," said Ecarma. "They have five of their six starters back and we are at their place. We understand that it will be a challenging match and that they are promoting this night big time. We will play hard."
