"We got off to a good start and served well," said Childs. "We were all over the net and were aggressive with our returns. Once got started, we got our momentum going and stuck with our game plan, simple aggressive doubles."

Childs and Maksimcuk, No. 45 in the ITA preseason rankings, earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament and completed a 5-0 run in the title match. They defeated second-seeded J.P. Smith and Tennys Sandgren 9-8 in the semifinals to set up the title match against the top-seeded and eighth-ranked Quigley and Cox.

"We were aggressive from the first point," said Maksimcuk. "We never let them get into match got up two breaks in the beginning and held serve."

"We've been to the finals of the doubles regional at least three times now and the third time is the charm," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "It was gratifying to see Viktor and Austen perform so well from beginning to end, defeating a very good Kentucky team on their home courts."

"These guys executed a lot of our doubles principles together at one time," said Ecarma. "It was one of the most dominating doubles matches that I've seen in their careers. It was a tough place to play, but once the match started, our guys were locked in and so ready to go. They started off at a high level and there was no letdown."
