LEXINGTON, Ky. - - The University of Louisville's Austen Childs and Viktor Maksimcuk advanced to the finals of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship Sunday.

Childs and Maksimcuk, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, outlasted second-seeded John-Patrick Smith and Tennys Sandgren of Tennessee 9-8(1) in the semifinals to reach Monday's title match against Kentucky's Eric Quigley and Brad Cox.

"Having two players in the round of eight is something to be proud of," said head coach Rex Ecarma. "I cannot remember the last time that happened. I am very happy about Viktor and Austen with their win against Tennessee. JP Smith is the best doubles player in the country. They are only the third Cardinal doubles team to advance to the regional final."

In singles action, Austen Childs defeated Kentucky's Brad Cox 6-4, 7-5 before falling 7-6, 6-4 to Tennessee's Rhyne Williams. Simon Childs topped East Tennessee's Sander Gille 6-1, 6-1 in the round of 16, but lost 6-3, 6-1 to the top-seeded JP Smith of Tennessee in the quarterfinals. Maksimcuk fell 6-4, 6-3 to Quigley and Vanderbilt's Blake Bazamik defeated Alejandro Calligari 6-3, 6-4.
