KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - -
The University of Louisville men's tennis team is off to a strong start, picking up six wins in the United State Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional Thursday.
"I am very pleased that we went 6-1 today," said head coach Rex Ecarma. "This tournament attracts the very best college players from five states and we almost had a perfect day. Andrew and Sebastian showed that they are playing well with both of them going 3-0 on the day. The stakes are raised tomorrow because a 128 draw will shrink to 16."
Senior Andrew Carter and freshman Sebastian Stiefelmeyer each picked up a win in singles and teamed for a pair of wins in the doubles main draw.
Freshmen Albert Wagner and Michael Lippens also each posted a singles in the first round of the main draw.
