The University of Louisville double team of Austen Childs and Simon Childs advanced to the consolation finals of the D'Novo All-American Tennis Championship Saturday. The Cardinal duo picked up two consolation wins, but fell 8-4 to Duke's Reid Carleton and Henrique Cunha in the finals.
"After a disappointing first day, the guys worked hard in the backdraw to get to the finals," said assistant coach Rodrigo daSilva. "They didn't play as well as they could have at times, but worked hard today. Hopefully we can take this energy into the next tournament."
Childs and Childs opened the tournament with an 8-5 loss to Boston College's Erik Kreutzer and Thomas Nolan to move into the consolation bracket. The Cardinals picked up an 8-3 win over Michigan's Jason Jung and George Navas and went on to beat Boise State's Vicente Joli and James Meredith in the semifinals.
