Men's Tennis Captures 'A' Doubles, 'B' Singles and 'A' Consolation at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The University of Louisville's Luis Elizondo and Jeffrey Brown won the `A' doubles championship and Colton Buffington captured the `B' singles title Ball State Invitational Sunday. Elizondo won the `A' consolation championship.

Sophomore Luis Elizondo and freshman Jeffrey Brown defeated Ball State's Dalton Albertin and Ray Leonard 8-4 in the finals to capture the `A' doubles title.

"I'm very pleased with Jeffrey Brown and Luis Elizondo for winning their first doubles title" said U of L head coach Rex They were the most inspired doubles team in the tournament and showed it by beating the No. 1 doubles team from Ball State on their home court."

Freshman Colton Buffington captured the `B' singles division with a 7-6(1), 6-0 win over Ball State's Austin Sansone.

"I'm really happy for Colton Buffington winning his first singles title in his young career," said Ecarma. "He started the match down 2-5 but made some adjustments and won the next 11 out of 12 games. His hard work is really starting to pay off."

Sophomore Luis Elizondo defeated Cleveland State's Jorg van der Vloet 6-3, 4-6, 1-0(4).

"Luis won four straight matches to win the `A' consolation division showing he's got his form back from last season," said Ecarma. "His play really improved this week and the wins gave him an added boost."

In `B' doubles, Buffington and sophomore Van Damrongsri fell 8-3 to Cleveland State's Matt Ford and Matt Kuelker for a runner-up finish.
