The University of Louisville men's tennis team fell to No. 23 Texas Tech (7-4) Saturday. Louisville (9-7) will face No. 31 Oklahoma Monday at 6 p.m. (Eastern).
The match which was originally scheduled to be played outdoors at 1 p.m. was pushed back to 6 p.m. and moved indoors due to weather conditions.
The Red Raiders won at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles to take the first point of the match. Louisville's 34th ranked Andrew Carter and Albert Wagner fell 8-4 to Raony Carvalho and Gonzalo Escobar at the top seed. Sebastian Stiefelmeyer and Amaury Derognat lost 8-3 to Vitor Manzini and Rafael Garcia at No. 2. The Cards picked up a doubles win on court three where Robert Hall and Michael Lippens beat Raphael Pfister and Jeff Bryan 8-6.
In singles action, Tech's 56th ranked Gonzalo Escobar defeated Stiefelmeyer 6-2, 6-1 at the two-spot. Carvalho added to the lead with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Carter at No. 1. On court three, Lippens took the first set 6-4 over Garcia, but fell 6-2, 6-1 as the Red Raiders clinched the win.
Wagner put the Cardinals on the board with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 victory over Manzini at the four-spot. Luis Elizondo added another point at No. 5 where he defeated Francisco Zambon 6-2, 4-6, 1-0. The match finished on court six where Gabriel Wanderly edged Chris Simich 9-8.
