ORLANDO, Fla. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team continued its solid play at the Orlando Invitational, picking up 14 wins on day two of the tournament.
Albert Wagner led the way for the Cards with four wins on the day. The freshman posted two `A' division singles victories and teamed with fellow freshman Sebastian Stiefelmeyer for a pair of `A' doubles wins.
"Today was a test of endurance," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "Our day lasted 13 hours and only the strong survived. One of them was Albert Wagner who won all four of his matches. This follows his 3 matches from the day before. Chris Simich and Amaury Derognat won both of their singles matches. Sumit Gupta finished the day 2-0. Playing a tournament like this where the players get a lot of matches gives us an edge over teams that do not play this type of event. In my opinion it puts us 2-3 weeks ahead in our development as a team. It helped us to an 8-0 start last season so I hope we can do the same this season. Today's MVP is Albert Wagner."
