Louisville, Ky. - The No. 12 Louisville men's soccer team will host Northwestern Sunday, Nov. 25 at 7:00 p.m. for the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals are coming off a 5-0 win over Winthrop in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 13-5-1 and a BIG EAST record of 7-1-0. Sophomore Dylan Mares leads the team in scoring with seven goals and five assists for 19 points. Mares scored his first career hat trick last week against Winthrop. Senior Greg Cochrane and sophomore Will Vitalis rank second on the team with 15 points. Junior Mike Mauro started in 13 games for the Cardinals in goal. He owns a 0.76 goals against average with six shutouts and an 10-2-1 record.
Northwestern enters the game with an overall record of 13-5-4. On Sunday, the Wildcats defeated Marquette 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA Championship to advance in the tournament. Freshman Joey Calistri leads the Wildcats with 20 points and nine goals. Senior Chris Ritter leads Northwestern with five assists and has also contributed five goals. Tyler Miller has started all 22 matches in goal for the Wildcats. He currently owns a 0.77 goals against average along with recording 52 saves and 10 shutouts.
Sunday's match will be the first meeting between the two teams.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youths, students and senior citizens. Tickets will go on sale at 9:00 a.m. at the athletic ticket offices. You can also call the athletic ticket office at 852-5151 for tickets. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $4.
