Men's Soccer Hosts Marquette Saturday for the BIG EAST Quarterfinals

Louisville, Ky. - The No. 12 Louisville men's soccer team will host Marquette Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7:00 p.m. for the quarterfinal round of the BIG EAST Tournament. The Cardinals earned a first round bye after winning the BIG EAST Red Division title.

The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 12-4-1 and a BIG EAST record of 7-1-0. Last Saturday the Cardinals defeated Cincinnati 1-0 to end the regular season. Sophomores Will Vitalis and Dylan Mares lead the team in scoring with four goals and five assists for 13 points. Senior Greg Cochrane ranks third on the team with 12 points. Junior Mike Mauro started the last eight games for the Cardinals in goal. He owns a 0.71 goals against average with five shutouts and an 9-1-1 record.

Men's Soccer Defeats Marquette 1-0 to Advance to BIG EAST Semifinals
The 13th ranked Louisville men's soccer team defeated Marquette 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Valley Fields in the second round of the BIG EAST Championship. The Cardinals improve to 12-5-2 on the year and advance to their third consecutive BIG EAST semifinals. Louisville recorded its fourth straight shutout, tying a school record for consecutive shutouts.

Marquette enters the game with an overall record of 15-2-1 and a BIG EAST record of 5-2-1. On Wednesday, Marquette defeated Cincinnati 3-0 in the BIG EAST Tournament First Round. Senior Andy Huftalin leads the Golden Eagles with 10 goals and four assists for 24 points. Bryan Ciesiulka and Paul Dillion lead the team with eight assists a piece. Lyon Charlie has started all 18 games in goal for the Golden Eagles this season. Charlie owns a 0.70 goals against average with 71 saves and 10 shutouts.

The Golden Eagles lead the series against the Cardinals 8-5-3. The Cardinals own a 2-4-1 home record against Marquette. Last season the Cardinals shutout the Golden Eagles to a score of 1-0 in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals in Milwaukee.
