The No. 21 Louisville men's soccer team will travel to USF on Wednesday, Oct. 17 in Tampa, Fla. at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals are 4-1-0 in BIG EAST play while the Bulls own a 1-1-3 league record. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.
The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 8-4-1. Last week the Cardinals defeated No. 10 St. John's 1-0 in Cardinal Park. Senior Greg Cochrane and sophomore Will Vitalis lead the team in scoring 12 points. Sophomore Dylan Mares ranks second on the team with 10 points. Junior Mike Mauro started the last six games for the Cardinals in goal. He owns a 0.83 goals against average with two shutouts and a 5-1-1 record.
USF enters the game with an overall record of 7-3-4. Last week the Bulls fell to Syracuse 1-0. Leston Paul leads the Bulls in scoring with three goals and five assists for 11 points on the year. Roberton Alterio and Brenot Griffiths rank second on the team in scoring scoring with seven points. Da llas Jaye has started in goal for the Bulls the last two games. Jaye owns a 0.50 goals against average with six saves and one shutout.
USF leads the series against the Cardinals 14-6-2. The Cardinals have won two of the last three meetings against the Bulls. The Cardinals own a 2-8-1 record against USF in Tampa. The last time the two teams met in Tampa, the Cardinals won 2-1 in double overtime. Last season in Cardinal Park USF defeated the Cardinals 3-1 during a heavy rainstorm.
