Men's Soccer Hosts St. John's Saturday Night in Cardinal Park

Louisville, Ky. - The Louisville men's soccer team will host St. John's on Saturday, Oct. 13 in Cardinal Park at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals are 3-1-0 in BIG EAST play while the Red Storm owns a 2-1-1 league record. The game will be televised live on the Fox Soccer Channel.

The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 7-4-1. Earlier this week the Cardinals played No. 11 Indiana to a 2-2 tie. Senior Greg Cochrane leads the team in scoring with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Sophomores Dylan Mares and Will Vitalis rank second on the team with 10 points. Junior Mike Mauro started the last six games for the Cardinals in goal. He owns a 0.96 goals against average with two shutouts and a 4-1-1 record.

St. John's enters the game with an overall record of 8-1-4. Last week the Red Storm defeated Cincinnati 3-0. Jack Bennett leads the team with four assists and is tied at the top with four goals, along with Nick Matthews and Jelani Williams. Rafael Diaz has started and played in every game for St. John's. He owns a 0.58 goals against average and has registered 44 saves, along with seven shutouts.

St. John's leads the overall series 4-2-1. The Cardinals own a 2-1 record against the Red Storm at home. Louisville has won the last two home meetings against the St. John's (2-1 in 2008 and a 2-1 overtime win in 2010). Head Coach Ken Lolla owns a 2-3-1 record against the Red Storm since taking over at Louisville. Last season the Cards came up short on the road and lost to the Red Storm 1-0.
