Phil Edginton Earns BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Louisville, Ky. - Louisville's Phil Edginton was named BIG EAST Defender of the Week for the week of Oct. 12 the league announced today. Edginton helped Louisville to a 2-0-0 record in BIG EAST play last week. This is Edginton's second honor this season and the third of his career.

The senior center back anchored a Cardinal defense that recorded its seventh and eighth shutouts of the season and the team's third straight blank sheet against league opponents. He helped Louisville hold then-No. 3/5 USF to just one shot on goal and four total shots in the Cardinals' 1-0 win on Oct. 7. In a 4-0 win over Syracuse on Oct. 10, Edginton helped hold the Orange to just four shots and one on goal.

Edginton becomes the first defender to earn the honor twice this season. He has also been honored twice on the BIG EAST honor roll.
