Ockford Named Conference Defensive Player of the Week

Sept. 23, 2013

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior Jimmy Ockford was selected as American Athletic Conference Defender of the Week on Monday after anchoring the Louisville men's soccer team's backline in last Saturday's win at UCF.

A native of Yardley, Pa., Ockford was instrumental as the Cardinals limited the Knights to only one shot on goal while also providing offense with his team-leading third goal of the season in the 3-0 victory. Connecting for the first goal of the night less than three minutes into the match, he helped lead Louisville to a win in its American Athletic Conference opener.

Overall, Ockford has scored goals in each of the last two matches and has started all six games this season on the backline for the No. 22 Cardinals (4-2-0), who next host SIU Edwardsville on Tuesday at 7 p.m., ET in non-conference action at Cardinal Park.
