The Louisville men's soccer team will host No. 4/9 Notre Dame on Saturday, Sept. 22 in Cardinal Park at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals will be looking to improve on their current 4-1-0 home record.
The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 4-3-0. Earlier this week the Cardinals defeated Ohio State 4-0. Senior Greg Cochrane leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points. Marlon Hairston and Will Vitalis are tied for second on the team with five points each. Junior Mike Mauro got the starting nod against Ohio State in goal. He collected his first career shutout against the Buckeyes.
Notre Dame enters the game with an overall record of 7-0-0. The Fighting Irish are currently ranked in the Top 10 of every poll and are ranked as high at second in the nation in the Soccer America poll. Ryan Finney leads the team in scoring with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Harrlson Shipp ranks second on the team with two goals and three assists for seven points. Notre Dame has two keepers that have seen action this season. Walsh has played in four games and owns a 0.50 goals against average. Patrick Wall has seen action in three games and owns a 0.63 goals against average.
Notre Dame leads the series 10-3-1 over the Cardinals. In the last five games the series has been even with a 2-2-1 record. The Cardinals have won two of the last three meetings. Last season Notre Dame defeated the Cardinals 1-0 in South Bend. The last time the two teams met in Cardinal Park, Louisville defeated Notre Dame 2-0. The Cardinals own a 2-3 record against the Irish at home.
