Louisville, Ky. - Former Cardinal standout Paolo DelPiccolo has signed with the Montreal Impact on Friday, pending his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) clearance. As per league policy, details of the agreements were not disclosed.
DelPiccolo was selected by the club in the second round, 27th overall, in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft and has been training with the club since June 3, following a stint in Germany.
He scored once in two MLS Reserve League games with the Impact since then, as well as taking part in the Impact U21 international friendly versus the Haitian national team on June 22, at Stade Saputo.
In March DelPiccolo joined Eintracht Frankfurt for the Bundesliga. He managed one assist in seven games played, including two starts with Eintracht Frankfurt II, the team's under-23 side.
DelPiccolo started all 21 matches last season for the Cardinals. He finished his four year career at Louisville ranked as the all-time assist leader with 23 career assists. He finished this season tied for second on the team with six assists. DelPiccolo was named first team NSCAA All-Great Lakes region and earned first team All-BIG EAST honors this season.
DelPiccolo also started three games as a defender with the US U20 national team during the Copa Chivas in Mexico, in 2008, and took part in the Milk Cup with the U18 national team, in Northern Ireland, in 2009.
