June 5, 2013
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville men's soccer head coach Ken Lolla has announced the Cardinals' 2013 schedule that features eight 2012 NCAA Tournament teams, including national champion Indiana and home matches against powerhouse opponents. Seven opponents ranked in the Top 25 a season ago.
"We are excited about playing another challenging schedule this fall," said Lolla. "The level of competition at home as well as on the road will prepare us well for post season play."
The Cardinals will play 17 regular-season games. Louisville will host three exhibition games in Cardinal Park. The Cards will first see action on Aug. 15 against Lindsey Wilson at 7:00 p.m. The Michigan Wolverines will come to town on Aug. 20 for the second exhibition game at 7:00 p.m. Northwestern will wrap up the exhibition games on Aug. 24 with another 7:00 p.m. start time.
Louisville officially opens the 2013 season on the road against Virginia on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. The Cardinals return home on Sept. 4 to begin the home schedule against another NCAA participant, Cleveland State at 7 p.m. The game kicks off a four game home stand with Butler on Sept. 7, UC-Irvine on Sept. 13, and Cal State Bakersfield on Sept. 15.
The Cardinals will begin conference play on Sept. 21 as they travel to UCF. The Cards will return to Cardinal Park for another two game home stand on Sept. 24 against SIU Edwardsville and Sept. 28 against Temple.
Louisville will then face Ohio State in Columbus on Oct. 2 and SMU in Dallas on Oct. 6. The Cards will host Rutgers in Cardinal Park on Oct. 12 before heading to Bloomington for a match with the defending national champion Indiana Hoosiers on Oct. 15. The Cardinals will then host Connecticut on Oct. 19.
Louisville will wrap up the road schedule with two straight games against Cincinnati on Oct. 23 and at Memphis on Oct. 26. The Cardinals conclude the home slate with consecutive matches. Louisville will host Saint Louis on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. The Cardinals will then wrap up the regular season on Nov. 3 against USF.
