Men's Soccer Standout Charlie Campbell Signs with Ljungskile SK in Sweden

Louisville, Ky. - Former Louisville standout Charlie Campbell has signed a seven month contract to play with Ljungskile SK in Sweden. "I'm pleased and honored to sign with Ljungskile SK," said Campbell. "I'm very excited to represent the club for the 2013 Superettan season. Ljungskile SK provides a tremendous platform for self-development growth both as a player and a person. I want to thank my family, friends, girlfriend and the University of Louisville for their continued support as I pursue my dreams and professional ambitions." Campbell signed with Orlando City Soccer Club in May of 2011. He helped guide Orlando City to the 2011 USL Pro Championship. In 2012, Campbell appeared in 20 of 24 league matches for USL regular season champions Orlando City. Campbell also started both U.S. Open Cup matches for City while notching two assists. Following his one goal and five assists, Campbell was awarded Clubman of the Year by manager Adrian Heath. Campbell was drafted in the second round, 35th overall, of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by FC Dallas. He spent the entire preseason with the 2010 MLS Cup runners-up, and participated in the 2011 Disney Pro Soccer Classic Campbell played his final year at the University of Louisville while he pursued his master's degree in sport administration. He started 20 games for the Cardinals as a senior, ranking fourth on the team in scoring with six goals and two assists for 14 points. He scored the game-winner against West Virginia in the BIG EAST Quarterfinal. Campbell also scored a goal in three of Louisville's NCAA Tournament wins (College of Charleston, Ohio State and UCLA). He also dished out an assist against the Buckeyes and Bruins. He was also named to the College Cup All-Tournament team.
