LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Sophomore Marlon Hairston scored his first goal of the preseason as the 10th-ranked Louisville men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against visiting Michigan in Sunday night's exhibition match at Cardinal Park.

After the two teams played a scoreless opening half, Hairston (Jackson, Miss./IMG Pendleton School) put the Cardinals ahead in the 58th minute when he took a perfectly placed lead pass from redshirt sophomore Jonathan Brown (Clinton, Miss./University of Kentucky) and scored past Michigan goalkeeper Adam Grinwis inside the far right post for the 1-0 advantage. It was the first assist in the preseason for Brown, who also scored two goals in the Cardinals' win over Lindsey Wilson in last Thursday's exhibition opener.

Louisville maintained the one-goal edge for more than 28 minutes of the second half before the Wolverines, an NCAA Tournament qualifier last season, evened the score at 1-1 in the 87th minute of action. After the Cardinals were whistled for a foul 24 yards from the goal, Marcos Ugarte connected on a free kick scoring inside the far right post to pull Michigan even. The game was called moments later by officials after an injury led to a lengthy delay.

In goal for the Cardinals, senior Mike Mauro (Bristol, Conn./Air Force Academy) had a pair of saves in working a scoreless first half while junior Joachim Ball (Deutenberg, Germany/Heinrich-Heine Universitat Dusseldorf) had one save while allowing one goal in the second half. Grinwis had four stops and allowed one goal while playing the entire match in goal for Michigan.

Louisville finished with a 13-8 advantage in shots, including a 5-4 edge on-goal while also earning a 3-2 margin in corner kicks.

Up next, UofL will conclude its three-game preseason slate on Saturday at 7 p.m., at Cardinal Park against No. 19 Northwestern and admission is free. The game is a rematch of the Cardinals' 2-1 win over the Wildcats in the third round of last year's NCAA Championship.
