Jeremy Proud enters his seventh season as an assistant coach with the Louisville Cardinals. Proud's main responsibility on the field is working with the Cardinal goalkeepers. He is also responsible for the equipment needs of the team and coordinates all the Louisville men's soccer camps.
Proud has groomed several goalkeepers during his tenure at Louisville. Most recently he had developed Andre Boudreaux into one of the top keepers in the nation. Boudreaux left his mark in the record books during his four seasons in goal for the Cardinals. He was named the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the BIG EAST Tournament and was named to the College Cup All-Tournament team. Boudreaux has finished the last two seasons with the top goals against average while setting a record 13 shutouts in 2009. David Simolike developed into one of the top goalkeepers in the BIG EAST under Proud's tutelage. He finished with a .96 goals against average and had eight shutouts in his final season with the Cardinals. In his last two seasons at Louisville Proud and the staff were named the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year.
Proud comes to Louisville from Akron where he served one season as a graduate assistant under head coach Ken Lolla. While at Akron, the Zips advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. Proud worked with freshman goalkeeper Evan Bush. Bush was named a Freshman All-American that same year.
Prior to his stint with Akron, Proud served one season as an assistant coach with Fresno Pacific University's men's and women's soccer programs. In 2003 Proud served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Fresno State.
Proud was a four-year starting goalkeeper at Fresno State and served as the team captain his junior and senior years. He earned second team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors in 2000 and earned MPSF All-Tournament team honors in 2001. He earned All-Pac-10 honors his senior season in 2002. Proud finished his career at Fresno State as the all-time saves leader. He also earned team MVP honors his senior year.
He was also a standout in the classroom, earning academic all-conference honors all four years at Fresno State. He also earned all-region scholar honors in 2002.
Proud has also spent two years (2003, 2005) as the goalkeeper coach at the Central Valley Soccer Academy and one season (2004) with the Bullard Soccer Club. He earned his U.S.S.F. "A" coaching license.
He is a native of Auburn, Wash., and received a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from Fresno State in 2003.
