Sept. 28, 2001

ANN ARBOR, MI -- The University of Louisville men's golf team limped off to a 17th-place start after one round of the Wolverine Invitational. No Cardinal stands among the top 20 of the 36-hole tournament. The tournament will finish up Sunday afternoon with 18 holes of action.

Sophomore Matt Bascom carded the Cardinals' low round of the day, firing a four-over-par 75 at the University of Michigan Golf Course.

Paducah native Brett Jones is one shot behind Bascom and 11 others after shooting a +5 (76). Jones opened his day going out in 40, but rebounded to shoot 35 over the final nine holes.
