LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville men's golfer Trevor Sluman used an outstanding performance this weekend to finish tied for sixth place at the 56th annual Porter Cup, held at the Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, N.Y.
The 72-hole, 75-competitor event saw the Cardinals' junior shoot 67-72-67-70, placing him just four shots back of champion Geoff Drakeford of Traralgon, Australia.
Sluman will continue his summer competition this week when he travels to Chicago, Ill., to compete in the annual Western Amateur, held at the Beverly Country Club. The 112th edition of the event is set to be held July 28-Aug. 2, and will feature a field that includes 50 of the top-100 amateurs in the world, and 21 of the top 37.
As a sophomore last season, Sluman appeared in three of the Cardinals' six events, notching one top-five finish and putting together a 75.22 stroke average.
