MASON, Ohio -
Male High School alum Chris Campbell fired a final round even par 71 to finish tied for seventh at the 54-hole Xavier Provident Invitational. The two-day tournament was held at the Golf Center of Kings Island located in Mason, Ohio.
Campbell, who tops the Cardinals in scoring average through four fall tournaments, shot the second-best round of the day to move up four spots and into the top 10. Campbell finished the competition at 1-over (214) to finish five shots behind medalist Jim Herman of Cincinnati.
Herman knocked off a pair of Marshall golfers in a playoff after all three were tied at 4-under after 54 holes.
As a team, the Cardinals fired a final round 306 and dropped three spots to finish 14th of 19 teams at the event.
Freshman Steven Hassett backed Campbell with a 38th-place showing in just his second collegiate appearance, shooting an 11-over 224 for the tourney.
The Cardinals complete their fall portion of the schedule with a home event next Monday and Tuesday. The U of L Invitational will be held at Persimmon Ridge with tee times running from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. on Monday and 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The event is free and open to the public.
