LOUISVILLE, Ky. - -
The Louisville men's golf squad released its 2013-2014 schedule and the competitive slate features a number of high-profile tournaments as the Cardinals begin play in the American Athletic Conference.
After losing two seniors from last season, the Cardinals return a talented crop of young golfers, namely 2013 All-East Region team selection Robin Sciot-Siegrist.
As a freshman last season, Sciot-Siegrist, a three-time BIG EAST Player of the Week, led the team with eight top-10 finishes in 11 tournaments, putting him in a time for third on UofL's all-time single season list and the most for a freshman.
The Cardinals return four of their top performers from last season in Sciot-Siegrist, Antoine LeSeaux, Gus Lundquist and Max Walz, with the four recording a total of 16 top-10 finishes with a combined scoring average of 73.85.
Head coach Mark Crabtree added three to the incoming freshmen class in Robert Geibel, J.D. Lehman and Louisville native, Ben Montgomery.
The Cardinals' open their 15th season under Crabtree on Sept. 6-8 as they travel to Aurora, Ill. to compete in the Northern Intercollegiate.
Two weeks later, the Cardinals will host the Louisville Invitational at the Cardinal Club on Sept. 23-24.
The fall season comes to a conclusion when the Cardinals head across the ocean to Kauai, Hawaii to showcase their talent in the Warrior Wave Invitational on Nov. 4-6.
The fall season has the Cardinals all over the map, traveling to California, South Carolina and North Carolina, but will also stay close to home at the Mason Rudolph Invitational in Franklin, Tenn. on Apr. 4-6 and the Purdue Invitational on Apr. 19-20.
The Cardinals close out the year at the American Athletic Conference Championship to be held in Charleston, S.C. on Ap. 27-29.
"I'm excited for the 2013-14 season," Crabtree said. "We have a young, talented group of returning players, but I feel like we have added a trio of solid players who will push the returnees. We have a very challenging schedule ahead of us, but I look forward to watching this team grow together during the season."
