Louisville, Ky - University of Louisville senior men's golfer Adam Hadwin was named the National Player of the Week by Golfweek.com.
Hadwin won the BIG EAST individual title by tearing up the final round. He shot a five-under 67 to become the third Cardinal player to ever win a BIG EAST title. Daryl Fathauer won medalist honors in 2007 when he shot a seven-under par and Derek Fathauer carded a 14-under par title in 2006.
The Cardinals entered the final round with an 11 stroke lead over Marquette, who finished in second place. The Golden Eagles made up six shots on Tuesday, but the Cardinals cruised to the tournament win.
Hadwin entered the final round tied for the overall lead with Mike Van Sickle of Marquette. However, Hadwin, who shot 207 for the tournament, defeated the Marquette star by three strokes. Hadwin, whose previous best was a top three finish, picked up his first-ever tournament win.
