University of Louisville senior Chris Campbell has been named the Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week after finishing tied for second place at the Marshall Invitational on April 6-7. Campbell's 54-hole total of 211 (-2) helped the Cardinals finish 10th overall in the 20-team tournament. He opened the tournament firing 69-68 on Day One to stand five under par heading into Saturday's action but shot a 74 (+3) in the final round.

Campbell's showing in Huntington was his second consecutive runner-up finish and third straight among the top 10. The Male High School graduate is a combined three-under par over his last 126 holes, averaging 71.14 strokes per round in his last three events.

This week, Campbell and his Cardinal teammates begin preparations for the 2001 Conference USA Championships scheduled to begin on April 23 in Navarre, Fla. Campbell tied for fifth a year ago at the league championships as the Cardinals posted a surprising fourth-place finish behind Houston, UAB and South Florida.
