Campbell Tied for Second After 36 Holes of Marshall Invitational

Huntington, WV -- University of Louisville senior men's golfer Chris Campbell continued his strong play posting a 36-hole score of five-under-par on Day One of the Marshall Invitational. Campbell's 137 puts him in a second place tie with Toledo's Brad Heaven just three shots behind leader Mike Austin of Ohio State.

As a team, U of L resides in an eighth place tie the University of Wisconsin with a two-round total of 582.

Campbell, a graduate of local Male High School, carded a two-under 69 in the morning round and followed that up with a second-round 68 to lead the Cardinals. The senior has recorded top 10 finishes in each of the Cards' last two outings.

Juniors Grant Sturgeon and Dean Halterman join Campbell in the top 40, standing 30th and 35th, respectively. Sturgeon opened the tournament with a 75 but fired a two-under 70 in the afternoon. Halterman's day started with a 72 (E) and was followed with a 74 over the second 18.

The tournament concludes Saturday morning with 18 holes of play at the Guyan Golf and Country Club..
