Men's Golf Closes Season With 12th-Place Finish at Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich - - EAST LANSING, Mich. - The University of Louisville men's golf team closed out the 2004 regular season by placing 12th out of 14 teams at the Bruce Fossum/TaylorMade Invitational after shooting a weekend total of 922 (306-310-306) at Forest Akers West Golf Course on Sunday, May 2.

Indiana won the tournament with a team score of 880, edging out defending champion Illinois by four shots. Jeff Overton led the Hoosiers, taking individual medalist honors with a total score of 6-under par 210, highlighted by a 5-under par 67 in the final round on Sunday.

Junior Brett Jones paced the Cardinals with a 21st-place overall finish by shooting 226, including a 76 on Sunday. Senior Matt Bascom was tied for 36th with 229 (78-74-77), while junior Charlie Woo was tied for 49th with 77-79-76=232. Sophomore Will Hanna was next at 61st with 78-80-77-235, while Brent Holmes rounded out the Cardinals' top five with a 71st-place ending, carding 82-82-78=242.
