WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - University of Louisville men's golfer Robin Sciot-Siegrist shot a 1-under par 143 to sit in a tie for third place at the 15-team Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday.
No. 9-ranked Illinois leads the tournament with a 5-over par 581 while Louisville is second at 10-over par 586. No. 14-ranked UCLA is third at 12-over par 588. Iowa is fourth at 15-over par 591 and seven more teams, are within seven shots of the Hawkeyes.
Sciot-Siegrist, who tied for second in his last tournament, carded 73-70 on Saturday and stands just two shots off the lead, heading into Sunday's final round of action. "It was a very solid team effort today," head coach Mark Crabtree said after Saturday's two rounds.
"Everyone contributed to our success. Robin played especially well. I'm looking forward to the final group pairings with Illinois and UCLA, who are both top 10 teams."
The Cardinals will be paired with Illinois and UCLA on holes No. 1-3 on Sunday. Robert Geibel is tied for 16th overall after he fired a 3-over par 147, including an even par 72 on the first 18 holes.
Antoine LeSaux is tied for 20th after shooting 78-70=148 and Max Walz is tied for 46th place when he shot 73-79=152. J.D. Lehman rounded out the top five with his 77-76=153 to stand in a tie for 53rd place.
