Men's Golf Finishes Ninth at Irish Creek Collegiate

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - The University of Louisville men's golf team remained in ninth place after the final round of the Irish Creek Collegiate. The Cardinals shot 290-288-296=874 for the two-day tournament.

Kent State took home the team title after a score of 825 while Mercer's James Beale captured medalist honors after firing a 7-under 64 in the final round.

Chris Malec continued to lead the Cardinals and finished ninth overall giving him his second-straight top 10 finish. The junior fired a 70 in the third round for a total of 71-67-70=208.

Daniel Iceman fired a 74 in the final round to finish tied for 29th at 68-74-75=217. Chris Biuso tied for 57th after shooting a 74 in the final round for a two-day mark of 79-73-74=226. Henry Tomlinson also tied for 57th. Tomlinson carded a 77 in the final round for a total of 75-74-77=226. Nick Umholtz rounded out the lineup. Umholtz shot a 78 in the third round for a total of 76-75-78=229.

The Cardinals return to action at the NC State Wolfpack Invitational held April 14-15 in Raleigh, N.C.
