What's New at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in 2010 With construction on the expansion of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium completed, University of Louisville football fans will see many new features for the 2010 season. New Cardinal Authentic store The new Cardinal Authentic store, located on the east side of the stadium adjacent to Floyd Street, will have its Grand Opening week beginning Aug. 30 leading up to the Cardinals' opening football game. The store will have special events daily during the Grand Opening week, including such features as a "Spin the Wheel" opportunity for discounts and giveaways. It will be open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. during Grand Opening week from Aug. 30 through Sept. 3. Cardinal Authentic is the only adidas team store in the area and will stock merchandise that cannot be found anywhere else. U of L season ticket holders will receive a 10 percent discount at all times in the store (please show your ticket to attain discount). In addition to game days, the store will be open weekdays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Watch for store specials periodically throughout the season. Additional opportunities to purchase Cardinal gear are located throughout the stadium. CardMarch U of L will continue its tradition at home games with the CardMarch each home game, but the time has been moved closer to kickoff this year and the route has been extended. The team will be dropped off between the A and B sections of the Green Lot two hours prior to kickoff (example: 1:30 p.m. for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff). With the assistance of the U of L marching band and cheerleaders, the team will walk from the Green Lot and into Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Fans are invited to arrive early and create an entrance way for the players as they head into the stadium. Entry Procedures Altered All tickets will be scanned upon entry this season. All customers with tickets that access the Brown and Williamson Club, PNC Club and all suites will receive a wristband at the gates for entry to their specific ticketed locations. Students now have a designated gate in which to enter -- Gate 2B, located on the Floyd Street/east side of the stadium near Gate 3. Student identification will be checked at the gates. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid congestion at the gates, particularly at Gate 4 on the south side of the stadium. Once in the stadium gates, there is no smoking anywhere within in the facility.
There are gradual ramps on the east side of the stadium to access the UPS Flight Deck, the newest upper seating area. On the east side of the stadium, the elevator to the north (to the right when facing the stadium) are for premium seat holders only. One of the four elevators at the south column (to the left when facing the stadium) is designated for fans accessing the UPS Flight Deck who may not be able to use the ramp or stairs. Countdown to Kickoff Discounts Stadium gates will open one and a half hours prior to kickoff. Concessions at the new Norton Healthcare Terrace, which overlooks the stadium bowl above the south stands, will offer discounted prices for Centerplate's "Countdown to Kickoff." From the time the gates open until 15 minutes prior to kickoff, prices from $1 to $5 will be available as follows: $5 Philly cheesesteak sandwich, $4 domestic can beer, $3 domestic draft beer, $2 hot dog and $1 chips. Additional Video Boards, Shifted Fan Sections New video boards will enhance the fan experience. Two 345 x 3 feet LED ribbon boards, located on the fascia of the east and west sides of the stadium, have been added. A new 60 x 20 feet LED video board has been added on the south end of the stadium, matching in size the existing board at the north end. Also aiding fans are two exterior boards -- a 13 x 9 feet LED video board facing outside the stadium to the south, and an 18 x 5 feet LED information board on Central Avenue, replacing a previous display. Fans will notice that the U of L Marching Band seats have been moved to the southeast corner of the stadium, the U of L student section has been expanded to include more seats closer to the field, and the visiting team's fans will occupy the northeast stands both in the lower and upper sections (when necessary). UPS Flight Deck Family Specials Family special prices will be available at the concession stands on the UPS Flight Deck concourse. In addition to regular menu items, fans will be able to purchase a "Pick 3" deal for $7.50 to choose from three of the following items: 20 ounce fountain soda, peanuts, chips, popcorn, hot dog, or Cracker Jacks. Additional Parking More than 1,100 additional parking spaces have been added adjacent to the stadium, providing more parking than ever for the 2010 season. Two new reserved parking lots have been added across Floyd Street from the stadium and are labeled the Platinum Lots. The Platinum Lot located on the northeast corner of Floyd and Central is designated the "S" Lot while the Platinum lots just south of the railroad tracks on Floyd Street is the "P" Lot. All of those spaces are reserved and prepaid for season ticket holders. Complete parking information can be found here.
