LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville football head coach Charlie Strong and selected players met with the media on Wednesday, as the Cardinals held their annual Media Day festivities in the press box of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
Strong addressed the media for nearly 30 minutes and was followed by defensive coordinator Vance Bedford and offensive coordinator Shawn Watson. Selected players were also made available to the local press.
Defensive coordinator Vance Bedford spoke to the media Wednesday afternoon and discussed how pleased he is with the depth on defense, which returns 10 starters from a unit that ranked in the top-20 nationally.
Bedford is thrilled with the depth on the defensive line and expects to be able to pressure opposing quarterbacks with his front four, which is different than his first two seasons. He also discussed the importance of being aggressive on defense and playing fast.
Offensive coordinator Shawn Watson addressed the media Wednesday afternoon and talked about the progress the offense has made through the first five practices.
Watson, who is in his first season as offensive coordinator, returns eight starters on offense, including quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who was the 2011 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year. Watson is excited with the development of Bridgewater and believes the sophomore is headed for a big season in 2012.
