Petrino names Dermody Assistant Strength Coach

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - Bryan Dermody, an assistant strength coach for the past four months at Drake University and a former player at Lakeland College, has joined University of Louisville Coach Bobby Petrino's staff as assistant strength and conditioning coach.

As an assistant at Drake, Dermody directed the strength programs for the football, volleyball and track and field teams.

Prior to joining the Drake staff, Dermody served four seasons at Iowa working with the football program and was also an intern with the Hawkeyes for two seasons prior to that. As an intern, Dermody was involved with all aspects of the football strength and conditioning program, including the administration of the developmental program.

Dermody graduated from Lakeland College with a degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis on athletic training. While at Lakeland, Dermody served as a student assistant and was involved in the design and implementation of the strength and conditioning program for football and men's basketball.

As a player, Dermody was a three-year starter at outside linebacker for the Musky football program. He served as captain as a senior, while earning Honorable Mention All-Illini Badger Conference and All-Academic honors. He was also named to the Verizon Academic All-American team.
