LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - Patrick Thomas, one of the top junior-college dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation, has signed at the University of Louisville, head football coach Bobby Petrino announced Monday.

Thomas, who has three years of eligibility remaining, will be eligible to compete for the Cardinals this season and gives UofL six quarterbacks heading into the fall with sophomore Will Gardner, senior Brett Nelson, redshirt freshman Kyle Bolin and Penn State transfer Tyler Ferguson, who must sit out this season. The Cardinals also added incoming freshman Reggie Bonnafon from Trinity High School.

"I'm pleased that Patrick has joined our program," Petrino said. "He is a dual-threat quarterback who adds depth to that position heading into the fall. Patrick is talented and I'm excited to add him to the mix as we head into the ACC this season."

Playing one season at Georgia Military College in 2013, Thomas passed for 1,695 yards as he hit 110-of-207 passes with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed for 199 yards and a pair of touchdowns. As a freshman in 2013, Thomas, who attended Banneker High School, guided Georgia Military to an 11-1 record and helped lead the school to an appearance in the NJCAA Championship game versus East Mississippi Community College.

Thomas originally signed at UAB in December with former head coach Garrick McGee, who is now the offensive coordinator at Louisville.
