A record 30 student-athletes from the Louisville football team were named to the 2013 BIG EAST All-Academic Football Team, the conference office announced.
Senior quarterback Will Stein finished his Louisville career as a four-time BIG EAST All-Academic team member.
Punter Joshua Appleby, quarterback Jerry Arlinghaus, tight end Hunter Bowles, quarterback Luke Brohm, defensive tackle DeAngelo Brown, running back Dominique Brown, linebacker Nick Dawson, long snapper Grant Donovan, linebacker Royce Donovan, fullback Bo Eggers, quarterback Will Gardner, wide receiver Stephen Goodwin, defensive back Kevin Houchins, tight end Ryan Hubbell, punter Ryan Johnson, offensive lineman Thomas Klusman, offensive tackle Alex Kupper, offensive tackle Ryan Mack, offensive lineman Joe Manley, defensive back Devontre Parnell, defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins, offensive tackle Jake Smith, offensive guard Josh Stearns, defensive back Jordan Streeter, wide receiver DeMarcus Topp, center Chris Walker, kicker John Wallace, safety Alex Witcpalek and linebacker Chris Zelli were honored by the BIG EAST Conference.
To be nominated, a player must have a cumulative grade-point index of at least 3.0 and completed a minimum of two semesters of academic work.
The 2013 squad begins spring practice on March 20 and concludes, with the annual spring game on April 13 at 1 p.m.
