A three-year starter at Hamilton Township High, Micky Crum was a talented two-way performer as a tight end and defensive tackle. Rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com, 247Sports.com, Rivals.com, and ESPN.com, Crum was a three-time all-league performer for head coach Nate Hillerich. Crum was also rated as the No. 58 prospect in Ohio by Rivals.com and ranked by ESPN.com as the No. 80 prospect in Ohio. In guiding Hamilton to a 7-3 record last season, Crum was named the Most Valuable Player of the Mid-State League. Overall, he was ranked as the No. 50 by 247Sports.com and 77th by Scout.com. Crum recorded 600 yards receiving and nine touchdowns at tight end. On defense his senior season, Crum tallied 78 total tackles and a team-high 16 sacks, leading Hamilton Township to a 2013 Mid-State League championship. He also returned an interception for a touchdown. For his efforts on defense, Crum was awarded first team all-state accolades and was also selected as the team's captain. He rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns during his final season. The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder was a two-time all-district performer. On the wrestling team, Crum was a three-time state qualifier. Crum also received offers from Illinois, Bowling Green, Ohio, and Western Michigan. He is the son of Micky and Melissa Crum.
