BEFORE LOUISVILLE
An extremely talented offensive lineman for head coach Bobby Petrino, Lukayus McNeil was a great signee for the Cardinals late in the recruiting process. A decorated two-way performer at Decatur Central High for head coach Justin Dixon, he played offensive tackle and played both defensive end and nose tackle. McNeil is a three-star prospect and ranks as the No. 40 offensive tackle in the country by Scout.com and is ranked the No. 28 offensive tackle nationally by 247Sports.com. This past season, McNeil was recognized by the Indiana Football Coaches Association as an all-state performer. On defense, McNeil recorded over 30 quarterback pressures and totaled six sacks. A 270-pounder, McNeil was tabbed the team's top defensive linemen. McNeil is a standout on the basketball court, averaging 14.0 points and 16.0 rebounds per contest this winter. McNeil earned all-conference honors on the hardwood last season. A native of Indianapolis, Ind., he was a standout in track and field. McNeil was a state champion in the shot put with a throw of 61-10. The son of Lisa Bryant and Jhonny Buter held offers from Oklahoma, Iowa, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Virgina Tech, San Diego State, Purdue, Toledo, Kentucky, Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska, Ball State, and Cincinnati.
