Justin Burke begins his third season as an offensive graduate assistant at Louisville.

Burke started his coaching career with the Cardinals in 2011 after playing two seasons at quarterback at Louisville. Burke, who transferred from NC State, threw for 1,444 yards and 13 touchdowns as the starter. He threw for 790 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior in 2010, as he guided the Cardinals to their first winning season since 2006.

The product of Lexington, Ky., started the 2009 season as the starting quarterback before suffering an injury in a loss to Utah. He threw for a career best 245 yards on 15-of-28 passing with two touchdowns in the loss at Kentucky, including a 66-yard touchdown pass to Trent Guy.

A graduate of Lexington Catholic High School, Burke was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Kentucky and was a finalist for the Gatorade National Football Player of the Year. Burke threw for 8,770 yards in his career, while posting a 34-5 record as a starter. He threw for a state record 62 touchdowns as a senior to only six interceptions while passing for 3,789 yards. He also had a streak of 37 straight games with at least one touchdown pass.

Coming out of high school, Burke was the No. 3 rated player in the state and No. 12 quarterback nationally by SuperPrep. He earned first team All-State during his senior campaign, leading Lexington Catholic and coach Bob Sphire to a 14-1 record and the 3-A state championship.

Burke earned his master's in business from Louisville in 2011 and also earned a business degree from Louisville.
